Black Power Series
Community Storytelling Campaign

The Community Storytelling Project is an effort to catalogue and document historical work and wins of the Black community in Central Arkansas beyond the work of integration. Our goal is to hold 5-10 community story circles with up to 100 elders sharing stories of local black excellence along with assessments of community needs.

Within this documentation of the Community Storytelling Project, our goal is for 12 youth to learn how to document stories, enter and exit community as well as engage in participatory action research. Within these session, we invite the elders from your community to come together to speak with our youth. Our youth have questions about black history, culture and community that we use to facilitate an intergenerational conversation. The conversations are recorded as a documentary will be created in 2025 from the various circles held across the city showcasing the various stories of Black power.

This work is held in partnership with The Village Place and the Dreamspaces currently collecting community desires on future needs. If your church or organization is interested in hosting a story circle and/or Dreamspace, we invite you to share your information so that we can follow up!
